Adding a Carradice saddlebag is always a good next move, especially if it's an old one that wears it's age well. But what happens when you open the flap? It should contain an oil skin cape, slightly rusty trouser clips, some well-used bike spanners, a puncture repair kit in a tin (not plastic, obviously) and of course sandwiches and a flask.
Accessorising a bike is my favourite part of a restoration, it adds flavour and authenticity and raises the whole thing from a 'nice old bike' to the full vintage experience.
A good rummage at a car boot sale on a Sunday morning can often unearth some suitable items, as can the usual trawl through Fleabay. Other avenues that are often successful are Wanted ads on bicycle forums (feel free to make use of the Toggle Chain Tour forum 'Marketplace' sections) and online 'old bike stuff' shops like my one at No Touching.
But wherever you go to find your trinkets, enjoy it. Lights, saddlebags, bells, trouser clips... all add to the complete picture.

Until next time, cheerio.
